Verla Ann Wilcox
February 15, 1948 - January 18, 2020
Verla Wilcox, 71, kept the faith and finished her course on January 18, 2020. Verla was born February 15, 1948 in Grayson, daughter of the late James H. and Imogene Blevins Shaffer. She was preceded in death by a brother, James "Junie" Shaffer, Jr. Verla taught elementary age children for 30 years, and Sunday School for over 35 years. The joy of her life was spending time with her family, especially her five grandchildren. She was a member of the Grayson Church of the Nazarene since she was 13 years old.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Leland Wilcox, two daughters; Beth (Kevin) Sanders of Maysville, KY and Leslie (Raymond) Nichols of Rockwood, Michigan; sister, Donna (Kenny) Jessie of Richmond, KY; five grandchildren, Zane, Brady and Anna Grace Sanders, Gabe and Nate Nichols.
A celebration of life will be conducted Wednesday, January 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Bayless and Bro. Jim Harris, ministers. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
