Thomas Prichard Rucker
December 17, 1931 - September 17, 2019
Thomas "Tom" Prichard Rucker, 87, of Troy, OH formerly of Hitchins, KY passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019 following a lengthy illness. He was born December 17, 1931 in Hitchins, KY a son of the late Glen and Marie Prichard Rucker. In addition to his parents, his beloved wife, Helen Hendrickson Rucker on May 17, 1998; and two brothers Dan Rucker on Nov. 24, 2011 of Grayson and Bob Rucker Feb. 6, 2019 of Bonita Springs, FL.
Tom is survived by his stepsons Andrew Swihart (Judy) of Midland, MI and David Swihart (Dona) of Troy; six step grandchildren and one step great-grandson; brother Glen "Babe" Rucker of Greenville, TX and sister Rebecca "Becky" Blair (Jonnie) of Somerset, KY; and many nieces and nephews who all mourn his passing.
Tom was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Hitchins High School and went on to receive his Bachelor's and Master's degree from Morehead State University and also attended Wright State University and Miami University. Tom worked for Somerset Public Schools for three years, Graham Schools for five years, and Troy Schools for 20 years as principal both at Heywood Elementary and Hook Elementary where he retired in 1985. His interests included reading and fishing.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Saturday September 28, 2019 at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Bro. Bradley Cotten officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be 11 am Saturday until the service hour. Condolences may be sent to the Rucker family at www.malonefuneralhome.com

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
