Mary Kouns
Mary Frances Goebel Kouns, 67, of Grayson went to be with her Lord Saturday, March 14, 2020 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Frances was born December 21, 1952, in Grayson, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Conley Goebel. In addition to her parents a son, Stephen Jarod Kouns; and a sister, Lucille Sagraves; and a brother-in-law, William Hayes, preceded Frances in death.
Frances was a member of Goebel Memorial Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Prichard High School; she continued her education by receiving her LPN at Ashland Vocational School and her RN at Morehead State University. She retired from nursing after working for St. Claire and King's Daughters medical centers. Frances enjoyed working in her flower garden and taking care of her dog, Winston, who adored her.
Frances is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Billy Kouns, Sr.; two sons, Billy Kouns, Jr. of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Danny Kouns, of Versailles; five grandchildren, Rebekah Kouns, of Maysville; Andrew Kouns, of Sioux City, Iowa; Matthew Kouns, of Olive Hill; Kaylee Kouns, of Olive Hill; and Landen Kouns, of West Union, Ohio; a brother, John Franklin (Rita) Goebel and a sister, Helen Hayes, both of Grayson; a dear friend, Patty Goebel; and a host of extended family and friends who all mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, March 19, 2020, at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Donald Damron officiating and Dr. David Goebel providing a eulogy. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until noon Thursday. The service will follow. Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
