Martha Francis Lewis, age 82, of Grayson, Kentucky, departed this world for her heavenly home on August 21, 2019.

Martha was born May 25, 1937 in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Stephen T. and Gladys Fannin Lewis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Eleanor Lewis, Bonnie Shumate, and Lowrella Skaggs. She was also predeceased by her brothers-in-law Herbert Skaggs, Evan Barker, and Danny Shumate, and sisters-in-law Jessie Lewis and Clara Lewis.

Martha was retired from Carter Caves State Resort Park where she worked as a cook for many years. Martha was a loving mother and devoted grandmother and great grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and caring for her flowers.

With her husband, Fred Andy Lewis, Martha had five children who were the pride of her heart. She is survived by three daughters, Marcella Lewis (Roger Nolty), Freda (Mike) Williams, and Judy Lewis (Shannon Sloan) all of Grayson; three sons, Freddie Lewis of Conway, South Carolina, Ricky (Rhonda) Lewis of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and David (Carla) Smith of Richmond, Kentucky.

Among those left to cherish Martha's memory are two granddaughters, Sarah (M.J.) Patrick of Grayson and Savannah (Zac) Tank of Louisville, Kentucky; seven grandsons, Kevin (Lisa) Williams of Ashland, Kentucky, Kyle (Chelsea) Williams of Grayson, Jeremiah Lewis (Tiffany Puff) of Louisville, Christopher (Erin) Caskey and Nikolas Lewis of Wetumpka, Alabama, along with Chris and Nik's mother, Teresa Lewis of Wetumpka, Nathan (Caitlynn) Smith and Jonah Smith of Richmond. She is also survived by four precious great granddaughters, Hannah Williams and Holly Williams of Ashland, Ella Williams of Grayson, and Emily Caskey of Wetumpka.

Martha is also survived by brothers William Lewis of Olive Hill, Eugene (Garnett) Lewis of Fairborn, Ohio, and Jerry Lewis of Sandy Hook; sisters Hazel Barker of Fairborn, Betty (Billy Gene) Ison of Springfield, Ohio, Evelyn (Paul) Hollon of Madisonville, Tennessee, Patty (Robert) Allen of Henderson, Nevada; and many nieces and nephews.

Services for Martha will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Bro. Roger Nolty officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Morehead, Kentucky. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Williams, Kyle Williams, Jeremiah Lewis, Chris Caskey, Shannon Sloan, and M.J. Patrick. Nik Lewis will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, Kentucky 40351.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
