Mr. William Elton Maddix Sr., age 74, of Olive Hill, passed away Wednesday morning, February 21, 2018, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.
He was born April 25, 1943, in Carter County, a son of the late Butler and Nora Smith Maddix.
William attended Globe Christian Church and worked for Globe Hardwood for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, building and selling homes and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wade Maddix and Samuel Maddix.
William is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, William Jr. and Alyce Maddix and David and Veronica Maddix, all of Olive Hill, and Danny Maddix of Nicholasville; four daughters and one son-in-law, Dottie Maddix of Nicholasville, Kathy and Mike Ford of Georgetown, Tammy England of Olive Hill, and Zoe Maddix of Paintsville; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Amos and Janet Maddix and Gary and Debbie Maddix, all of Olive Hill; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosemary and Louis Dingess of Chapmanville, West Virginia, and Betty and William Hall of Greenup. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother David Rayburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2018, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
William Maddix Jr., David Maddix, Chris Maddix, Michael Ford, Mitchell Perry, and Jamie Flannery will serve as pallbearers. Billie Jean Maddix will serve as a honorary pallbearer.
