William Earcel "Bill" James passed away Monday afternoon, Nov. 14, 2016 in Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 76.
He was born Sept. 25, 1940 in Grahn, to parents George & Ida (Gilliam) James. After he graduated from Olive Hill High School with the class of 1960, he proudly served his country by joining the US Army.
A beautiful young lady named Sylvia caught his eye and the pair soon married on Feb. 9, 1968.
Bill worked at the steel mill, where he drove trains and worked for over 35 years until he retired. In spare time, he took pleasure in hunting deer and turkey at their cabin in Kentucky and fishing on Lake Erie.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Sylvia James; daughters Billie Mahoney and Tracy (Mickie) Spears; grandchildren Andie Mahoney, Michael Foght, Dustin Spears, and Dylan Spears; siblings John James and Hazel "Peg" McGlone; his best friend Ron Swanger as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings Virginia Bernice Conn, Lillian Pauline Carroll, Eleanor Faye Carroll, Gladys Evlyne Rogers and George Junior James.
The James family received friends Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring Bill's life was held Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will officiate. Burial followed in Lexington Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the Bellville American Legion Post #535.
Contributions in Bill's memory to Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center may be made at the funeral home.
