Mr. Wendell Lewis Rose, age 75, of Grayson, passed away, Thursday evening, Sept. 15, 2016, at the Carter Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Grayson.
He was born Jan. 13, 1941, in Carter County, a son of the late Oathur Rose and Lucille Stevenson Rose.
Wendell was of the Baptist faith and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed watching U.K. basketball games and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Wendell is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Bellew Rose; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tim and Pamela Bellew of Bemidji Minnesota, Greg Rose of Grayson, and John and Melissa Rose of Salina, Kansas; one daughter, Jana Kiser of Grayson; seven grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, C.J. and Treva Barker of Olive Hill. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, with Brother Ben James officiating. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast on the Industrial Parkway in Greenup County, with full military honors presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post #138.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, and until the service hour on Tuesday at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home, 145 Gearhart Street, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
