Virginia's Story

Mrs. Virginia Sparks Burton, age 74, of Olive Hill, passed away Saturday morning, May 13, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
She was born June 9, 1942, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Willie L. and Clydia Brown Sparks.
Virginia was of the Pentecostal faith and she enjoyed sewing, making her quilts, watching NASCAR, meeting new people and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ernest Burton, and one sister, Shirley Creech.
Virginia is survived by two sons, William Flint Sparks (Rosa) of Cambridge, Ohio, and Ernest John Burton Jr. of Olive Hill; three daughters, Virgie Hedge (James) of Olive Hill, Lisa Plank of Tiffin, Ohio, and Charity Ann Burton of Plain City, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Willie L. Sparks (Margie) and Watt Sparks (Martha), all of Niles, Ohio; and two sisters, Audrey Goodman (Coy) of Mildridge, Ohio, and Stella Patton (Everett) of Olive Hill. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Rudy Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Hedge Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017, and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Cody Barker, John Prichard, Matthew Hedge, Allen Burton, Kyle Sparks, and Brian Sparks will serve as pallbearers. Norman Burton, David Harmon, Ben Justice, Gary Justice, and Brian Henderson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
