Mrs. Virgie Gale Carver Burton, age 71, of Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday morning, August 29, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 15, 1945, in Logan, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Earl "Cat" and Nancy Ann Johnson Carver.
Virgie was of the Christian faith and was a member of Carter Christian Holiness Church. She worked until her retirement at Carter Caves State Park as a clerk and she enjoyed cooking, fishing, playing computer games, shopping, going to church with her husband and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Virgie was preceded in death by three brothers, Jeff Carver, Earl Carver Jr., and Wayne Carver, and two sisters, Barbara Ann Small and Joann Carver.
Virgie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Monroe Burton; one son, Tim Burton of Olive Hill; one daughter, Sherri Maddix (Mark) of San Diego, California; five grandchildren, Chandra Burton, Josh Burton, Ryan Burton, Adrienne Maddix Meier, and Nathan Maddix; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Lee Carver (Becky) and John Allen Carver, all of Olive Hill; and two sisters, Bonnie Carver of Olive Hill, and Betty Jean Gullett (Kevin) of Leavenworth, Kansas. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Bill Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2017, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Virgie's family will serve as pallbearers.
