Mrs. Violet Lou Griffey Mabry, age 88, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Olive Hill, passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 8, 2017, at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Clay and Cora Bailey Griffey.
Violet was a member of the Garvin Ridge Wesleyan Church and she enjoyed going to church, gardening, and spending time with her sisters and her children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Roy Mabry, one brother, Van Gordon "Red" Griffey and three sisters, Ruby Burchett, Madge Plummer and Jessie-Belle Webb.
Violet is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William Timothy Littleton (Debbie) of Springfield, Ohio; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Cindy Brooks (Larry) of Louisville, and Connie Morris (Kelly) of Inman, South Carolina; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Helen Burton, Joann Bauers (Harold) all of Olive Hill, Shirley Rodgers (Dee) of Columbus, Ohio, Nancy Kay Oney, and, Don Rita Bond (Gary) all of Olive Hill. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother J.C. Bond officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
