Mr. Villard Dwayne Gilliam, age 70, of Lexington, Ohio, formerly of Olive Hill, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017, at his residence.
He was born December 17, 1946, in Carter County, a son of Retha McDaniel Gilliam Gay of Olive Hill, and the late Chester Gilliam.
Villard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the VFW, AMVETS, American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. He was a general contractor of construction and development. Villard was an avid sports fan and loved boxing, shooting guns, playing pool competitively and above all spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Gay.
In addition to his mother, Villard is survived by two sons, Cheston Gilliam of Mansfield, Ohio, and Mickey Biglin of Hobe Sound, Florida; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janelle and Doug Schartiger of Shelby, Ohio, and Rhonda and Hiram Rosselle of Sebastian, Florida; three grandchildren, Brenna Schartiger, Devin Gilliam, and Brayden Schartiger; and one brother and sister-in-law, Lanny and Marina Gay of Douglas, Wyoming. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will greatly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Paul Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Erwin Memorial Cemetery on Webb Ridge in Olive Hill, with full military honors presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post #138.
Friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
