Mrs. Velma Fern Seagraves Butterfield, age 74, of Russell, passed away Monday morning, January 8, 2018, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland.
She was born December 27, 1943, in Kenova, West Virginia, a daughter of the late George and Gertrude Tackett Seagraves.
Velma was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker. She enjoyed taking care of others, doing crossword puzzles and watching game shows on T.V.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mary Seagraves, and one sister, Francis Jean Seagraves.
Velma is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Damron (Sally) of Pikeville, Steve Damron (Pennie) of Ashland, and Dwayne Damron (Missy Damewood) of Russell; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Damron, Christopher Damron, J.C. Steele (Tina), Brandon Damron (Kelly), Tiffany Smith (Cody), Aly Smith (Chris) and Leah Damron (Josh); 12 great grandchildren; two brothers, David Seagraves of Ashland, and Tom Seagraves (Barb) of Lakeland, Florida; and three sisters, Virginia Lake and Shirley Cantrell, both of Russell, and Maurice Seagraves (Earl) of Columbus, Ohio. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, Kentucky, with Brother Jim Stamper officiating. Burial will follow in the McGuire Cemetery in Hitchins.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the funeral home.
Jackie Steele, Brandon Damron, Christopher Damron, Todd Baldridge, Jessie Baldridge, and Betty Wilburn will serve as pallbearers.
