Mrs. Velda Lynn Lowe Roe, age 78, of Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 7, 2017, at the Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson.
She was born March 15, 1938, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Lewis and Mona Mauk Lowe.
Velda was a 1956 graduate of the Olive Hill High School. She worked in the Olive Hill garment industries for 51 years and retired in 2007 from Ashland Sales and Service of Olive Hill, Kentucky. Being of the Christian faith where she attended the Ross Chapel Church when she dedicated her life to the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernie Roe who passed away in 1975; one brother, Arlie Lowe; one niece, Retha Lowe Pursel; one brother-in-law, Henry Jacobs; and three sisters-in-law, Marcella Lowe, Betty Lowe and Jessie Lowe.
Velda is survived by one stepson and his wife, Lowell "Tad" and Angie Cordial of Prestonsburg; one stepdaughter, Robin and Randy Asbury of Ashland; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lloyd Lowe, Carmel "Cub" Lowe, and George and Pauline Lowe, all of Olive Hill, and Elmer and Idell Lowe of Grayson; and one sister, Aline Jacobs of Olive Hill. She also leaves a host of extended family, nieces, nephews and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Larry Harris and Brother Randy Binion officiating. Burial will follow in the Lowe Cemetery on Three Pine Road in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Mike Lowe, Roger Lowe, Steve Lowe, Jim McCormick, Terry Lowe, and Elmer Lee Lowe will serve as pallbearers. Jason Haywood, Andrew Haywood, Christopher Lowe, Jeremy Lowe, Brandon Lowe, Gary Caudill, Cody Lowe, Ryan Lowe, Dillion Pursel and Houston "Huey Lowe will serve as honorary pallbearers.
