Thurston "Ben" Lawson, 79, of Grayson died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. He was born Feb. 13, 1937 in Omar, WV, a son of the late Earl and Irene Daron Lawson.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator/supervisor, with Addington. He also proudly served his Country with The United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Laurel Faye Lawson and a great-grandson, Garrett Hazlett.
He is survived by his wife, Danease Sergent Lawson; a son, Timothy (Patty) Lawson of Grayson; two daughters, Sherri (Tom) Miller and Terri (Carey) Burchett both of Grayson; a brother, Joseph Lawson of Rush; three step-daughters, Thresea (Ray) Boggs, Leasa (Brian) Swint, and Anna (Carl Wayne) McGlone; a step-son, Tony (Janie) Little all of Grayson; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, Keith Hill, minister. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Veterans Cemetery Northeast, in Greenup County, with military honors by the Ceredo-Kenova American Legion.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the Sparks Funeral Home.
