Ruby Queen, 91, of Hitchins went to be with her Lord on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at Hospice Care Center in Ashland surrounded by her family and loved ones. Ruby was born Aug. 11, 1925 in Lawrence County, a daughter of the late Charles K. and Emma Burks Horton.
Ruby was co-owner of Queen's Quality Dairy, she attended Lost Creek Predestinarian Primitive Baptist Church and a member of the Carter County Art Guild for over 30 years. Ruby's paintings were exhibited in "Images of the Mountains" which was showcased throughout the state of Kentucky, and served as Grand Marshall of Grayson Memory Days Parade.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Byron Queen; two sisters, Amanda Workman and Mary Riffe; one brother, Charles R. Horton. Ruby is survived by two daughters, Kathy Lewis formerly of Grayson and Donna (Mike) Hewlett of Greenup; four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Kavan) Kucko of Chicago IL, Meredith Lewis of Grayson, Christy (Kenny) Reed and Jacob Hewlett both of Worthington; five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Jerry Farmer, minister. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
