Roy's Story

Mr. Roy Gene Waggoner, age 67, of Elliott County, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, Sept. 22, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born Sept. 17, 1949, in Rowan County, a son of the late Arlie Allen and Annie Lee Moore Wagoner.
Roy attended the Bairtown Church of God and worked as a Bus Driver for the Elliott County School System until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
Roy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judy Holbrook Waggoner; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Brandy Holbrook of Elliott County; one daughter and son-in-law, Jessica Holbrook and Billy Reed of Elliott County; four grandchildren, Zakkary Holbrook, Gage Holbrook, Austin Thompson, and Ayden Reed; one brother and sister-in-law, Elijah and Kathy Wagoner of Olive Hill; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Audrey and Ora Hatton of Ashland, and Martha and Keith Webb of Mansfield, Ohio; and one special friend, Kendall Crisp. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at Bairtown Church of God in Stark, with Brother Charles Ray Barker, Brother Johnny Moore, and Brother Justin Wagoner officiating. Burial followed in the Moore Family Cemetery on Stark Ridge in Elliott County.
Friends visited from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164. Mr. Waggoner layed in state from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at the Bairtown Church of God in Stark.
Keith Webb, Rick Hatton, Jason Wagoner, Jeremy Holbrook, Austin Thompson, and Jeff Zornes served as pallbearers. Glennis Blankenbeckler, Randall Webb, Rev. Lowell Rice, and Zakkary Holbrook served as honorary pallbearers.
