Mr. Rex Melvin McCoy, age 67, of Webbville,, passed away Wednesday morning, August 9, 2017, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 13, 1950, in Carter County, a son of the late Carl and Edith Kouns McCoy.
Rex proudly served his country during Vietnam by enlisting in the Navy and serving of the USS Pyro. He was a retired laborer out of Local 1445 in Ashland. Rex was a member of the American Legion Post # 342 and a lifetime member of VFW 3705, both of Grayson. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, gardening and attending bluegrass festivals.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Delma Rucker McCoy; two sons, Roger George of Fort Worth, Texas, and John George of Sandy Hook; one daughter, Rose Bush (Zane) of Webbville; four grandsons, Christopher Mullins of Webbville, Bryan George of North Carolina, Matthew George and Jeffery George both of Texas; one granddaughter, Emily George of Texas; two great grandchildren, Gabby Smith and Wyatt Smith, both of Sandy Hook; one brother, Carl Wayne McCoy (Angie) of Grayson; and one sister, Marsha Boggs (Marvin) of Grayson. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017, at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, with Brother Leonard Gallihue officiating.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017, and after 9 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
A private graveside service will be held Monday, August 14, 2017, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup County.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
