Rev. Bobby J. Burton Rev. Bobby J. Burton, age 82, of Denton, passed away Sunday morning, March 10, 2019, at his residence.

He was born March 7th, 1937 in Denton, the son of the late Raymond and Ruth Brainard Burton.

Rev. Burton was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Oberammergau, Germany until being honorably discharged in 1961. Following his discharge, he worked for the power plant in Washington, D.C. and Reynolds Aluminum in Alabama before answering his call to the ministry. Over the next 50 years he served in churches throughout Alabama, Louisiana, and Kentucky before retiring from the Kentucky Methodist Conference in 2012.

He graduated from Northwest Alabama Junior College (Cum Laude), Howard College (Samford University), Clarksville College of Theology with his Bachelor's and Master's, Kentucky Christian College (Kentucky Christian University) with degrees in Bible and Teaching (Cum Laude), and Luther Rice Seminary (Cum Laude).

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by one son, Robert Dewayne Burton, and two brothers, George "Corky" Burton and Clifford "Jim Bob" Hutchinson.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lillie Hall Burton; two sons, James Christopher Burton (Lisa) of Killen, AL and James Coleman Sumpter (Jessica) of Brownsville, KY; three daughters, Rejeanne Marie DuVall (Roman) of Denton, KY, Candice Lee Ross (Chad) of Morgan City, LA, and Shealand Burton of Glasgow, KY; four grandchildren, Elke Burton of Florence, AL, Justin Taylor Burton and Jordan Trent Burton of Denton, KY, and Landyn Joe Key of Glasgow, KY; one great-grandchild, Gemma Claire Twitty of Florence, AL; and four sisters, Lou Ann Crace (Ted) of Southpoint, OH, Janet Amick (Buddy) of Louisa, VA, Pearl Coleman (Hoppy) of Rush, KY, and Sandy Thomas (Buzzy) of Grayson, KY. He also left behind many more family and friends that will mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, with Brother Denver Prater officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter Memory Gardens in Grayson, with full military honors presented by the Kyova American Legion Post # 93.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019 and until the service hour on Thursday at the funeral home.

Josh Justice, J.R. Rodgers, Billy Hall, Josh Coleman, David Thomas and Rick Coleman will serve as pallbearers.
