Patti Towler Salyers, age 67 of Ashland, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017 at Elliott Nursing & Rehab in Sandy Hook.
Mrs. Salyers was born Aug. 17, 1949 in Ashland, a daughter of the late Edsel W. Towler and Margaret Abbott Clay.
Patti was a Christian and in 1963 she and her mother moved from Kentucky to California where her brother Michael was stationed in the Air Force. She spoke often of how she went to the beach and how she saw the Beatles in concert. While living in California she married and had her two eldest children, Judy Lynn and Andrew James. She successfully received a nursing aide Diploma at Glendale Community Hospital. In 1976 she returned to her hometown and was welcomed by her father and her new extended family. Soon after her return, she married and had her two younger children; Lisa Ann and Michael Wayne.
She was a volunteer at Kings Daughters Medical Center, Patti loved the simple things in life, collecting family photos, listening to a variety of music and attending church. She always would let you know she was a Baptist, just like her father. Everyone acquainted with Patti knew she would always get her photos out with a smile and was happy to share her memories with them. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her spouse; Clifford R. Salyers, brothers; Michael W. Towler and Grover Clay Jr. One step sister; Jean Fisher McDowell; One stepbrother; John M. Fisher and step mother Ruth Prichard Towler.
She is the mother of four children; Judy Kuntz (Garrett) Davis of Denton, Andrew J. Kuntz and companion (Cynthia Berry) of Grayson, Lisa Prichard (Peter) Ries of Walbridge, Ohio, and Michael W. (Valerie) of Corydon, Indiana. Eight grandchildren; Aaron M. Davis, Jamie Kuntz Menshouse, Trinity M. Prichard, Noah A. Ries, Lauren A. Ries, Lilly Kuntz Menshouse, Kathryn P. Prichard, and Brokk C. Prichard. One step brother; James (Sue) Fisher of Nabb, Indiana, Debra Towler (Barry) Rowars of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Two great- nephews;Michael Chase Rowars and Grant H. Rowars a special cousin she loved and respected dearly, Harry Joe ( Sandy) Holland of Akron, Ohio.
Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at Hitchins Gospel Mission Church (Rt1) with Bro. Joe Mullins officiating. Burial followed in the Coalton Cemetery in Boyd Co.
Family received friends from 12 noon until the service hour Tuesday at the church.
