Mrs. Patricia Kay "Pat" Johnson Eldridge Johnson, age 60, of Morehead, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 29, 2016, at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law in Olive Hill, after an extended battle with cancer.
She was born April 1, 1956, in the Morgan County Hospital in West Liberty, an only child of the late Eugene Johnson and Jean Jenkins Johnson Litton. After her birth she was brought home by her parents to the family farm on Brown Ridge in Elliott County.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her two husbands, Rollie Eldridge and Douglas Dean Johnson; a daughter, Jessica Rene Eldridge; and two grandchildren, Olivia Faith Eldridge and Kayleigh Jean Eldridge.
She was of the Apostolic Faith and a faithful member of the Mills Branch Apostolic Church in Olive Hill, serving the Lord for many years. Pat loved singing for the Lord, and will be remembered for singing her two favorite songs, Because He Lives and Build My Mansion. She married her high school sweetheart, Rollie Eldridge, in 1973, and enjoyed 11 years of marriage until his death in Jan. 1984. Pat devoted her life to raising her two sons alone until marrying her best friend, Douglas Dean Johnson in 2000. She retired from Pathways Inc., in Morehead, due to her illness in 2015, after 29 years of service. Pat cared and enjoyed working with her clients and was dedicated to her job. Her two sons, Jeff and Nathan were her life and a special bond was shared with them. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved being called "Nanna". Pat had a mother daughter relationship with her daughter-in-law, they enjoyed sharing recipes, shopping, and crafting. She was an avid collector of Victorian antiques, tea cups, glassware, and loved working in her flowers, being known as having a "Green Thumb".
Pat is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffery Scott Eldridge of Morehead, and Nathan Eugene Eldridge and wife Danni of Olive Hill; three grandchildren, Tyler Eldridge of Morehead, Kelsey and Gracie Eldridge both of Olive Hill; an uncle and aunt, Jesse and Tootsie Jenkins of Elliott County; three very close cousins, Gary Stevens of Springfield, Ohio, Linda McKinney of Morehead, and Judy Wolfersberger of Shelby, Ohio; and two step children, Johnny Johnson of Richmond, and Deana Wall and her husband Shane of Elizabethtown; two step grandchildren, Joshua Wall and Sarah Wall both of Elizabethtown. She also leaves many other family members, church family and friends who will sadly miss her.
A Going Home Celebration Service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at the Mills Branch Apostolic Church, Route 1704 Mills Street, Olive Hill, with Brother Tim Ruley, Brother Mike Caudill, and Pastor Larry Joe Ruley officiating. Pat will be laid to rest in Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at the Mills Branch Apostolic Church in Olive Hill. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the service hour on Tuesday at the church.
Gary Stevens, David Eldridge, Jessie Jenkins, Ron O'Hair, Tim Collins, Scott Bailey, Dwight Crank, and Derrick Tackett will serve as pallbearers.
Tyler Eldridge, Brian Jenkins, Jerry Jenkins, Stanley Jenkins, Brothers and Sisters of the Mills Branch Apostolic Church, Blake Boggs, Danny Hall, Donnie Carroll, Larry Harris, William Waddell, Steven W. Whitt, Staff of Globe Funeral Chapel and Oney Henderson Funeral Home will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, is caring for all arrangements for Mrs. Patricia Kay "Pat" Johnson Eldridge Johnson.
