Opal Calhoun, 95, of Grayson, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She was born May 5, 1921 in Catlettsburg, a daughter of the late D.C. and Carrie Cartee Burns.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Douglas Calhoun in 2004, and a son, Jack Burns Calhoun; seven brothers, Ralph, Paul, Bill, Elbert, John, Frank, and Don Burns.
She was the owner and operator of Calhoun Dry Cleaning in Grayson for many years and later was employed by the Carter County School System where she worked in food service.
She is survived by a son, Roger (Linda) Calhoun of Grayson; a sister, Shirley Baldridge of Morehead; three grandsons, Jack (Nikki) Calhoun, Derek (Trista) Calhoun, and Luther (Michelle) Jarvis; three great-grandsons, Raiden Calhoun, Maverick Jarvis, and Gunnar Jarvis.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, Jimmy Adkins, minister. Burial followed at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morehead.
Visitation was Friday, March 31, 2017at 6:00p.m.-9:00p.m.and Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 9:00a.m. till service time at the funeral home.
