Mattie's Story

Mattie D. Pennington Travis, 77 of Sandusky, Ohio passed away peacefully on Nov. 17, 2015 at the home of her daughter in Casa Grande, Arizona while on Hospice Services. Mattie was born on April 1, 1938 in Willard, a daughter of the late Hubert and Carrie (Day) Pennington.
Mattie was married to her sweetheart, Harlan Travis, Sr. in 1953 in Greenup. They were happily married for 62 years.
Including her parents Mattie was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Rice and Marjorie Ward; a brother, James Pennington; and a daughter, Jeannetta Van Winkle.
Mattie is survived by her spouse Harlan Travis Sr. of Casa Grande, Arizona; her son and daughters, Jean Taylor and Harlan (Tony) Travis Jr. of Sandusky, Ohio, Eugenia (Andrew) Smith of Casa Grande, Arizona; her grandchildren, Timothy Taylor, Louis (Andrea) Spencer, Shawn Spencer, Jarrod Travis and Christy Spencer; her great-grandchildren, William Spencer, Harlan Perry Gene Taylor and many loving nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 am Saturday, June 18th 2016 at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Chaplain Andrew Smith officiating. A time of gathering will be from 10 am Saturday until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested in honor of Mattie's Life to: Cancer Services, 505 E Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
Mattie loved her Family with all of her heart and soul and we will miss her every day!
