Mrs. Margaret Coburn Carter, age 73, of Ashland, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 2, 2017 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland.
She was born April 22, 1944, in Boyd County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Pauline Woods Coburn.
Margaret was of the Protestant faith and worked until her retirement for the Boyd County School System. She enjoyed driving the school bus and loved the kids and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sheila Mae Coburn and Zelma Sue Colburn.
Margaret is survived by her special friend, Larry Carter of Ashland; one son, Ed Carter of Ashland; two daughters, Diane Carter and Kathy Lucas, both of Ashland; four grandchildren, Justin Carter, Krystle Lucas, Aaron Helton and Adam Helton, all of Ashland; three great grandchildren, Gavin Taylor and Gatlin Pinkerman, both of Ashland, and Layla Carter of Cincinnati, Ohio; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Carolyn Coburn of Webbville, and Charles and Rita Coburn of Ashland. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
A graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Coburn Family Cemetery in Lawrence County, with Brother Shannon Boggs officiating.
Visitation was from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
