Lowell's Story

Lowell Keith Dickerson, of Lexington, passed away at home on Aug. 3, 2016 making his stay on earth 61 years, 11 months and 28 days. He was born in Ashland, to Lowell S. Dickerson and Roberta J. Brammell of Grayson. He graduated from East Carter High School and then attended Morehead State University where he earned two Bachelor Degrees (Psychology and Chemistry) and his teaching certification. Keith passed the HHS national exam for Medical Technology to be able to work in clinic laboratories while in Paintsville. He continued his education at the University of Kentucky and received his Master's in Toxicology. Although Keith held several different positions during his career' they were always in the science arena. These included teaching high school chemistry, the Basic Science Coordinator for the 7 Medical Schools in Indiana and the Manager of the Tissue Bank at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington.
Keith was married to Sheila Dickerson (Haney) on June 21, 1993 and to this loving union 2 children were born, Rachel L. Dickerson of Lexington, KY and Alexander K. Dickerson of Galveston, TX. Keith is survived by his wife, children, father Lowell and one brother David Kevin Dickerson of Grayson. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, one niece, two nephews and a host of friends, colleagues, and students who played very important roles in his life.
Keith was preceded in death by his mother Roberta "Joy".
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday , August 19, 2016 at the Leon Church of Christ . Friends may call at 1:00 p.m. at the church.Arrangements by the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson.
