Mrs. Loretta Lucille Brown Howard, age 70, beloved resident of Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday evening, September 25, 2017.
She was born November 1, 1946, in Bell County, a daughter of Dottie Lucille Bailey Brown of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, and the late Belve P. Brown Sr.
Loretta spent most of her life in Smith, Kentucky, and was a member of the Faith Holiness Church. She enjoyed attending church, singing gospel songs, spending time with close friends, visiting with family, and talking with her grandchildren. While living at Carter Nursing Home, Loretta was fondly given the nickname "Queenie." She was surrounded by friends and care givers who loved her dearly. Her family is thankful for those relationships.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Wesley Winston Howard; two brothers, George Brown and James Daniel Brown; and one sister, Shirley Ann Burchett.
In addition to her mother, Loretta is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph "Jack" Howard (Pamela) of Grayson, and George Howard (Minnie) of Smith; four grandchildren, Alexander Pierce Howard and Kooper Watts Howard, both of Grayson, George Wesley Howard and Lucas Gene Howard, both of Smith; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joe Edd Brown (Sharon) and Belve P. Brown Jr. (Covie), all of Hulen, and Elmer Lee Brown of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee; and one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Kathryn Wilcox (Ron) of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. All of her nieces and nephews were her pride and joy. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her, but rejoice in her homecoming.
A Celebration of Life Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the Faith Holiness Church in Smith, with Brother Spencer Burkhart officiating. Burial will follow in the Hensley Cemetery in Smith.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2017, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
