Mr. Lloyd Lowe, age 95, of Olive Hill, passed away Wednesday morning, July 5, 2017, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 16, 1922, in Carter County, a son of the late Lewis and Mona Mauk Lowe.

Lloyd attended Olive Hill High School before entering the army during World War II. He always enjoyed telling about his war time experiences from serving in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy. Lloyd was a life-long farmer, taking pride in raising Hereford cattle.

He was a long time member of the Olive Hill Christian Church, perhaps the oldest living member at the time of his death. Lloyd was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a Kentucky colonel. He enjoyed researching family history and Carter County genealogy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Jessie Fultz Lowe in 2013; one daughter, Retha Lowe Pursel in 2009; one son-in-law, Gary Mozingo in 2011; one brother, Arlie Lowe; one sister, Velda Lynn Lowe Roe; four infant siblings; two sisters-in-law, Betty Lowe and Marcella Lowe; and two brothers-in-law, Henry Jacobs and Ernest Roe.

Lloyd is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rosetta Lowe-Maddix (Clyde) of Pendleton, South Carolina, Brenda Mozingo and Caffie Caudill (Gary) son-in-law that Lloyd loved and always depended on, all of Olive Hill two grandchildren, Shawna Erbe (James) of West Milford, New Jersey, and Dylan Pursel of Morehead; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Carmel Lowe and George Lowe (Pauline), all of Olive Hill, and Elmer Lowe (Idell) of Grayson; and one sister, Aline Jacobs of Olive Hill. He also leaves many other family members, church family and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Reverend Ron Arnett and Reverend David Shanklin officiating. Burial followed in the East Carter Memory Gardens in Grayson, with full military honors presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post # 138.
