Mr. Lloyd J. Harris, age 91, of Olive Hill, went home to be with the Lord, Friday morning, February 9, 2018, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born September 2, 1926, in Lewis County, a son of the late John and Bessie Pendlum Harris.
Lloyd proudly served his country in the United States Army, a Kentucky Colonel and was of the Church of God faith. He was a life long farmer and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on his farm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Eulane Griffey Harris; three brothers, Shelby Harris, Kenneth Harris, and Denny Harris; and one sister, Nellie Gilliam.
Lloyd is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Doris Harris of Winchester; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian and Ken Wright of Birmingham, Alabama, and Brenda and Bob Kerr of Ashland; five grandchildren, Stephen Harris, Amanda Prewitt, Kate Reinecke, Kelly Tee, and Kendra Wright; eight great grandchildren, Holden Harris, Hope Harris, Holly Harris, Brian Prewitt, Brayden Prewitt, Micah Prewitt, Lucas Tee, and Grayson Reinecke; one brother and sister-in-law, Carlos and Mildred Harris of Grayson. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
A going home celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with his grandson, Reverend Stephen M. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Harris Cemetery on Flat Fork Road, with full military honors presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post #138.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Holden Harris, Chad Riley, Barry Riley, Greg Harris, Terry Harris, Steve Prewitt, and Mark Reinecke will serve as pallbearers.
