Mrs. Kathy Alvelta Blevins Roar, age 61, of Olive Hill, passed away Sunday morning, January 21, 2018, at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
She was born June 12, 1956, in Carter County, a daughter of Joe Blevins of Olive Hill, and the late Florine Paynter Carroll.
Kathy was a member of the Unity Baptist Church and worked until her retirement for Olive Hill Finishing Card Factory. She enjoyed going to church and yard sales, singing, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Joe Roar.
In addition to her father, Kathy is survived two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael and Rebecca Roar Olive Hill, and Tommy Roar of Grahn; one daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Seth McGuire of Olive Hill; four grandchildren, Madison Roar, Paisley Roar, Jacob McGuire, and Charlee Adams; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Chad Carroll of Flatwoods, and James Kevin and Terri Carroll of Lexington; and six sisters and two brothers-in-law, Teresa Blevins, Rita and Tim James, and Karen and Jim Denton, all of Olive Hill, Lisa Comley, Marsha Carroll, and Tina Offutt, all of Lexington. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Dewayne Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Carroll-Nelson Cemetery in Grahn.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018, and after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Cody Valandingham, Tommy Valandingham, Matt Kelley, Derek James, Eddie Tackett, and Thomas Carroll will serve as pallbearers.
