John L. James, age 71, of Catlettsburg, formerly of Olive Hill, passed away Wednesday evening, October 18, 2017, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born December 20, 1945, in Carter County, a son of the late William and Letha Lyons James.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Vanessa James and two brothers, Jack Barker and Clell Parsons.
John was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed making wood houses out of popsicle sticks and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by one son Johnathan James; one brother, Jerry Barker of Palantine, Washington; and one sister, Laura Mauk of Grayson. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, with Brother Clyde Holbrook officiating. Burial followed in the Johnson Cemetery on Bens Run in Olive Hill.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2017, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
