Jim Bishop, 83, of Rush, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. He was born July 20, 1933 in Olive Hill, a son of the late Oval and Lydia Newman Bishop.
He was of the Christian faith and was a retired Tool and Die Maker in a machine shop. He proudly served in the United States Army, Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 200.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death his wife, Norma Gertrude Erwin Bishop; four brothers, Oval Bishop, Jr., Jack Bishop, Earl (Butch) Bishop, and Gary (Joe) Bishop.
He is survived by a son, Greg (Lisa) Bishop of Rush; a sister, Bettie (Charlie) Tackett of Grayson, a brother, Robert (Arlene) Bishop of Rush; a good friend, Patsy O'Neal of Grayson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 at Sparks Funeral Home, David Stephens, minister. Burial will follow at the Garvin Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 from 6:00 - 900 p.m. at Sparks Funeral Home.
