Mr. James Richard "Dickie" Thompson, age 71, of Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 31, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born Sept. 16, 1945, in Carter County, a son of the late Richard "Dick" and Jesse Mae Jarvis Thompson.
Dickie was of the Baptist faith and was retired from the brickyard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching outdoor sports, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, P.R. Thompson; one granddaughter, Brittany Renee Thompson; and one infant brother.
Dickie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lou Ella Porter Thompson; three sons, Dwayne Thompson of Shelton, Washington, Bobby Thompson and Debbie, and Scotty Thompson and Missy, all of Olive Hill; and one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Carroll Manning. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Dwayne Thompson and Brother David Rayburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Porter Cemetery in Carter County.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, and until the service hour on Saturday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
