James William Lunsford
Mr. James William Lunsford, age 83, of Pop Road, Olive Hill, entered into rest Friday evening, January 31, 2020, at his residence.
He was born March 5, 1936, in Carter County, a son of the late Johnny and Bertha Snipes Lunsford.
James proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Hinkle Construction as a heavy equipment operator and enjoyed fishing, riding horses and working on the farm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Lemaster Lunsford; his second wife, Thelma Burchett Lunsford; one son, Jody Lunsford; one step son, Randall Lunsford; one grandson, Jody Lunsford; three brothers, Delmar Lunsford, Clinton Lunsford and Ott Lunsford; and two sisters, Lillian Cundiff and Betty Jones.
James is survived by two sons, Billy Lunsford (Joy Evans) and Jimmy Lunsford, all of Olive Hill; two daughters, Barb Lunsford (Darren Caudill) of Olive Hill, and Penny Lunsford of Blaine; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Delbert Lunsford (Glennia) of Morehead, Therman Lunsford of Georgetown, and Glennis Lunsford (Olive) of Olive Hill; and one sister, Faye Fultz of Morehead. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2020, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Ronald Logan and Brother David Rayburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Deaton Cemetery on Pop Road in Olive Hill, with full military honors presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post # 138.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020, and after 9 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Billy Dailey, Glennis Lunsford, Delbert Lunsford, Chad James, Cody Lunsford and John Lunsford will serve as pallbearers. Tom Carroll, Sam Fultz, Larry Blankenbeckler and Darren Caudill will serve as honorary pallbearers.
