Mr. James "Bud" Erwin, age 81, of Olive Hill, passed away Thursday morning, July 11, 2019, at St. Claire Healthcare in Morehead.
He was born on January 18, 1938, in Carter County, a son of the late Willis Edward and Mary Evelyn Scott Erwin.
Bud was of the Baptist faith, was a life long farmer, and worked as a truck driver for Kenmore Stone. He loved golfing, raising tobacco, farming and later in life he enjoyed his daily driving to his homeplace and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Edward Erwin, and two sisters, Janet Baker and Shelby Spencer.
Bud is survived by two sons, James Erwin Jr. (Billie Jo) of Olive Hill, Tracy Erwin (Holly) of Morehead; one daughter, Mary Ruth Wiggs (Jon) of Louisville; nine grandchildren, Brandon (Naomi), Courtney, Tyler (Alisha), Chris (Rebekkah), Michaela, Jaydon, Amanda (Scott), Morgan and Adam; eight great grandchildren, Nathan, Kahlan, Kalidan, Alexander, Storey, Rayia, Atticus, and Oliver; one sister, Romona Roberts of Albany. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother David Rayburn officiating. Burial will follow in Jr. O.U.A.M. Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019, and after 9 a.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Calvin Baker, Ryan Rayburn, Brandon Erwin, Tyler Erwin, Nick Rayburn, Craig Rayburn, Chris Hall and Art Lawhorn will serve as pallbearers.
