Mr. James E. "Jim" Dinkens, age 81, of Grayson, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 21, 2017, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 25, 1935, in Carter County, a son of the late Fred and Ida Wilburn Dinkins.
James was of the Christian faith, and loved mowing his yard, watching television, going out to eat, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Hale Dinkens; two daughters, Dawn Dinkens and Connie Dinkens Rowe; and one brother, Junie Dinkens.
James is survived by his wife of 18 years, Bertha Hale Dinkens; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmy Dinkens (Donita) of Flatwoods, Terry Dinkens of Ashland, and Tony Dinkens of Raceland; two daughters, Debbie Dinkens and Holly Dinkens both of Raceland; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; five sisters, Jean Elswick of Rush, Catherine Dinkens of Ashland, Patty Gail Dinkens of Columbus, Ohio, Amanda Dinkens of Ashland, and Mary Freeze of Grayson; one step-son, Robert Evans of Grayson; three step-daughters, Sherry Evans of Grayson, Jackie Evans of Alexandria, Virginia, and Kim Evans of Grayson; and four step-grandchildren. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, with Brother Kyle Burchett officiating. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup, with full military honors presented by Ceredo-Kenova American Legion Post No. 93.
Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at the Grayson Funeral Home, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky 41143.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
