Mr. Jack Allen Tackett, age 86, of Olive Hill, passed away Friday afternoon, July 1, 2016, at Community Hospice in Ashland.
He was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Olive Hill, a son of the late Ernest Allen Tackett and Ruby Jewell Day Tackett Day.
Jack was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629. He was a retired master mechanic on heavy equipment.
He loved fishing, hunting, loafing with his buddy's at the Dairy Queen in Grayson, spending time with his family and friends, grandchildren and especially his great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis Tackett and Bucky Tackett and one sister, Anna Belle Evans.
Jack is survived by his wife of 67 years, Imogene Bailey Tackett; one son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd Allen and Linda Tackett of Grayson; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rosemary and Charles Utley, Bobbi and David Puckett, all of Grayson, and Becky Tackett of Ashland; four grandchildren, Raymond Utley and Chad Utley of Grayson, Kyla and Cory Blevins of Ashland, and Taelor and Marcy Puckett of Morehead; four great grandchildren, Daniel Utley and Eli Utley of Raceland, Bailey Utley of Greenup, and Nate Blevins of Ashland; and one step great grandchild, Hailey Wolfe of Greenup. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, with Brother Ed Jones and Brother Randy Tate officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilson Cemetery on US 60 West, Grayson.
Friends visited from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016, and until the service hour on Wednesday at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky 41143.
A Masonic funeral was conducted Tuesday evening, July 5, 2016, at 7 p.m. by the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629.
Raymond Utley, Chad Utley, Taelor Puckett, Cory Blevins, Daniel Utley, and Eli Utley will serve as pallbearers. Kyla Blevins, Bailey Utley, Nate Blevins and Marcy Puckett will serve as Honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Community Hospice, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, Kentucky 41101, or a charity of your choice in Jack's memory.
