Mrs. Iva Ruth Hamm Cox, age 77, of Olive Hill, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 29, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
She was born May 22, 1939, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Ora and Alice Johnson Hamm.
Mrs. Cox was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker. She was a people person who has never met a stranger and always saw the best in everyone. She loved going to church and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Ollie Ray Cox; two grandchildren, Amanda Gail Cox, and Donna Jo Sloas; two great grandchildren, Chelsie Dawn Stevens and Ashlee Bennett; four brothers, Gene Hamm, Emerson Hamm, Thurman Hamm, and Dempsey Hamm; and four sisters, Fern Kelly, Zella Harris, Thelma Bryant, and Violet Eulett.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Phillip and Donna Cox of Grayson, and Daniel Ray Cox of Olive Hill; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Trish Ann and Jeff Davis of Olive Hill, Connie Sue Frazier of Highland, Michigan, and Debbie Lynn and Carl Greenhill of Olive Hill; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two sisters, Floella Bryant of Olive Hill, and Phyllis Baitty of Muncie, Indiana. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Jackie Evans and Brother Steven Keyes officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowen Chapel Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, and until the service hour on Wednesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Jeff Davis, Daniel Cox, Jesse Cox, Johnny Cundiff, Jerry Bryant and Phillip Cox will serve as pallbearers.
