Hazel Louise Bond Garvin
Mrs. Hazel Louise Bond Garvin, age 104, of Lower Trough Camp, Olive Hill, was carried by angels to heaven, Thursday afternoon, October 31, 2019, at her residence.
She was born July 21, 1915, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Claude and Sallie Eulett Bond.
Hazel attended church at Pleasant Valley Gospel Tabernacle until she was unable to go. She loved serving the Lord and being with her family and friends she loved dearly. Her favorite thing to do was to tend to her beautiful roses, flowers and her garden as long as she was able.
Hazel worked for many years at the Jones Finishing Company as a supervisor and still had so many precious friends who worked with her and would visit and laugh over the good times they had. She also loved to deer hunt and killed a deer every year until she was 100 years young.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Tom Garvin; three sons, Buddy Lee Garvin, Harold Loyd "Bob" Garvin and Jackie Eugene Garvin; two grandchildren, Cathy Ann Garvin and Kayla Lowe; four brothers, Chester Bond, John Bond, Claude Bond, and Napolen Reed; and two sisters, Maude Erwin and Cora Bocook.
Hazel is survived by one son, Larry Joe Garvin (Roxanna) of Argilite; two daughters, Judy Nolen (O'Neal) of Grayson, Thomasina "Tina" Rayburn (LeRoy) of Olive Hill; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Nathan Eldridge and Brother Randy Binion officiating. Burial will follow in the John Sinclair (Sink) Garvin Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2019, and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Hazel's family will serve as pallbearers.
