Harold Ray "Harlan" Lawson, 87, of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his residence. He was born April 20, 1930 a son of the late Russell and Tina Sammons Lawson.
He was a Corporal in the United States Army serving in Korea right after the war had ended, he retired from Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, Ohio and for the past 17 years worked at Wal-Mart as a greeter and was a member of the Olive Hill American Legion Post 138.
Known by his Signature Hair Piece, Harlan loved to Gamble, spending many weekends at the Mardi-Gras Casino in West Virginia, and watching the Old Western Movies.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Sparks and Betty Sue Logan and five brothers June, Billy, Gene, John and Jack Lawson.
He is survived by one sister, Mary Lou Fielding of Olive Hill, KY and one brother Wayne Lawson of Olive Hill, KY; several nieces and nephews. In addition to these he is survived by a host of relatives, friends, and all those whom he met at Wal-Mart who will forever miss his presence.
A Celebration of Harlan's Life will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday January 3, 2018 in the Chapel of the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Olive Hill, KY with Bro. Richard Short officiating. The Olive Hill American Legion will conduct military honors. Interment will follow later at the Tick Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, KY
