Grant L. Sagraves, 87, of Grayson, passed away peacefully Jan. 12, 2017 at the Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson. He was born Nov. 18, 1929 in Ashland, a son of the late Clarence "Pop" Sagraves Sr. and Cynthia (Slone) Sagraves.
He was of the Methodist faith and had proudly served his Country with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Early in his career he was in retail sales, advancing into the banking business, where he served as Vice-President of the 2nd National (Community Trust) Bank in Ashland, later he relocated to Warsaw, NC where he became Mayor during the 1990's.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Lucille Goebel Sagraves; three sisters, Gladys, Ruth, and Mary; three brothers, Logan, Elmer, and Chester.
He is survived by two daughters, Marsha Lynn Sagraves of Russell Convalesant Home, Russell, and Beth Ann (David) Cooke of Grayson; two brothers, Clarence Sagraves Jr. of Ashland, and Harry Sagraves of Gatlinburg, TN; two grandchildren, Deirdre (Jeremy) Stephens of Grayson, and Ian (Allison) Cooke of Lexington.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, Jan.17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast, Musial Pearson, minister. Military honors will be provided by the Kenova American Legion Post 93.
