Glen Roy Pinkston, 92, of Grayson went to be with his Lord Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Glen was born Oct. 30, 1924 in Fairfield, TN a son of the late William J. and Josephine Adcock Pinkston. Including his parents Glen was preceded by two brothers, Walter Lee Pinkston and J.D. Pinkston; and two sisters, Christine Burns and Edna R. Lamb.
Glen was a retired Master Sargent of the United States Air Force, having served honorably for 24 years. While in the Air Force Glen was a flight engineer having flown 50 combat missions during WW II in a B-17 Bomber while stationed in Italy. After the military Glen graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor's Degree, and retired as an inspector from the Cummings Sign Company, and later worked as a substitute teacher in Carter County. Glen was a member of the Christ Community Church in Olive Hill.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Peggy Inez Jones Pinkston; two sons, Glen R. (Dianne) Pinkston, Jr of NC and Jeffery L. (Julie) Pinkston of TN; a daughter, Roma L. (Jeff) Burriss of TN; a seven grandchildren, Travis Pinkston, Angela Grayson, Garrett Pinkston, Kendall Pinkston, Clay Pinkston, Elisabeth Pinkston, and Mary Alice Pinkston; 3 great grandchildren, Bailey, Caleb and Avery Grayson; a special niece, Peggy Jo (Danny) Robinson; and a host of family and friends who all mourn his passing.
A graveside service will be held 1 pm Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 with Bro. Scott Caulley officiating at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East with full military honors. Condolences may be sent to the Pinkston Family at www.malonefuneralhome.com
