Mr. Garrett Forest Burton, age 91, of Olive Hill, passed away Friday evening, March 3, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Carter County, a son of the late Arthur and Gertie Patton Burton.
Garrett was of the Christian faith and proudly served our country in the United States Army. He enjoyed farming, fishing, feeding the cattle and turkeys, and he especially loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Littleton Burton; one brother, Virgil Burton; and one sister, Lorraine Meeker.
Garrett is survived by one son, Garrett Michael Burton of Olive Hill; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Dan Repass of Lexington; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Paul Ingold of Mansfield, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother David Rayburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Olive Hill, with full military honors conducted by the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, and until the service hour on Tuesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
