Ernest Gilbert Jr., 77, of Olive Hill, entered into rest Monday evening, Jan. 23, 2017, at King's Daughter Medical Center in Ashland. He was born Feb. 27, 1939 at Corey, a son of the late Ernest Gilbert Sr. and Lula Dean Gilbert. Junior retired from G.T.E. Communications as well as a Deputy Sheriff, having served with the Carter County Sheriff's Department and was a former officer with the Olive Hill City Police Department. He is a member of the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629 in Olive Hill.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers; Richard, Delmer, Woodrow and Elwood and Elmo Gilbert.
Junior is survived by his wife Gladys Adams Gilbert; two daughters, Penny Gilbert and Kimberly Rice and her husband Chad both of Olive Hill; one son, William Gilbert and his wife Melody of Flatwoods; three brothers Elmer Gilbert and Homer Gilbert, both of Ohio and Vernon Gilbert of Olive Hill; four sisters, Nomi Lawhorn of Ohio, Evelyn Sparks of Olive Hill, Geraline Mays of Ohio, and Onia Gehring of Olive Hill; seven grandchildren, including his granddaughter Mazzy, who he shared the same birthday. He also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends that will sadly miss him.
Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday Jan. 25, 2017 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Olive Hill, with Bro. Randy Binion officiating. Burial will follow in the Easterling Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Visitation will be 11:00am-1:00pm Wednesday Jan. 25, 2017 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
