Mr. Elige "George" Gilbert, age 68, of Olive Hill, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born Nov. 16, 1948, in Olive Hill, a son of the late Matt and Mary Bryant Gilbert.
George proudly served his country in the United States Army and he enjoyed working on cars, riding motorcycles, being with kids, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Ray Gilbert and Rodney Gilbert and one sister, Carolyn Sue Scott.
George is survived by three sons, Richard Gilbert and Russell Gilbert, both of Indiana, and George Gilbert of Olive Hill; three daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Shawn Mabry and Cheryl and Tom Shumaker, all of Olive Hill, and Angela and Larry Nuckols of Fort Wayne, Indiana; seven grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Margaret Gilbert of Olive Hill, and Randy and Roxie Gilbert of Salam, South Carolina; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Phyllis Glibert of Olive Hill, and Karen and Tom Anderton of Columbus, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Gilbert Family Cemetery in Olive Hill, with family and friends officiating.
Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
