Mrs. Dorothy Mildred Smith Graves, age 102, of Olive Hill, passed away Friday afternoon, May 5, 2017, at her residence.
She was born August 19, 1914, in Franklin County, a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Lee Wilson Smith.
Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olive Hill, where she taught the beginners class for 65 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed going to church, cooking, gardening, working in her flowers, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Hannon "Pete" Graves; one grandson, David Alan Graves; three brothers, Delbert Smith, Ernest Smith, and Lenroe Smith; and three sisters, Ann Smith, Janette Perry, and Cordia Smith.
Dorothy is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Vicky Graves of Palm Harbor, Florida, Gene and Uneva Graves of Winchester, and Ronnie and Rachel Graves of Grayson; one daughter and son-in-law, Lelana and John Tierney of Olive Hill; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and three caretakers, Mary Jordan, Carol Mullins, Christy Cox. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Olive Hill with Brother Mike Blankenship, Brother Bob Donavan, and Brother David Logsdon officiating.
Visitation is from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Olive Hill.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Woodford County, with Pastor Bill Hartung officiating.
Clark Graves, Steven Graves, Eric Graves, John G. Tierney, Paul Jason Tierney, Troy Roark, and Mike Tripplet will serve as pallbearers.
