Doris's Story

Doris Kilgallin Cooper, 88 of Grayson went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Doris was born Oct. 26, 1928 in Thor, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna Laura Roe Kilgallin. She was the owner and operator of Cooper's Department Store in Grayson, member of the First Church of Christ and the Carter County Art Guild. She taught school earlier in life and was one of the last to teach at Scotts Branch School. Doris was preceded in death by her husband in 1992, Frank Cooper; one son, Ercil Cooper; two brothers, Norman Kilgallin and Benton Kilgallin; one sister Barbara Kilgallin. Her survivors include; one son, Phillip Cooper of Grayson; one daughter, Bonnie Cooper of Lexington; one grandson, Jason Wampler of Lexington.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Malone Funeral Home with David Prater and Scott Ford, ministers. Burial will be in the Stone Cemetery in Lewis County. Friends may call from 6-9 pm Monday and after 9 am on Tuesday.
