Mrs. Donna Jean Day Messer, age 77, of Grayson, passed away Monday afternoon, December 11, 2017, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She was born October 19, 1940, in Scioto County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Odiest and Irene Francis Bowles Day.
Donna was a member of the Gregoryville Apostolic Truth Tabernacle and was a homemaker. She enjoyed going to church, feeding her birds, cooking, being an avid UK fan and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Mark Messer, and one brother, Larry Day.
Donna is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edward John Messer Sr.; one son and daughter-in-law, Edward John Messer Jr. and Shawna of Grayson; four daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Crank and Stephen of Minford, Ohio, Carrie Johnson and David of Rootstown, Ohio, Terrie Loflin and Michael of Wiston Salem, North Carolina, and Shelby and Dwight Riley of Vanceburg; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; three brothers, Donald Day and Ronald Day, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Michael Day of West Portsmouth, Ohio. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Gregoryville Apostolic Truth Tabernacle in Gregoryville, with Brother Brian Adkins and Pastor Ray Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel and after 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Donna's grandsons, Owen Crank, Danny Crank, John Messer, Brandon Messer, Kody Richmond, Josh Richmond, D.J. Johnson, and Jameson Fultz will serve as pallbearers.
