Mrs. Darlene "Ann" Chaplin McGowan DeHart, age 69, of Hanson, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at the Madisonville Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born April 18, 1947, in Morgantown, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Elizabeth Chaplin.
In addition to her early life in West Virginia, Darlene lived in Lubbock, Texas, where she worked in the payroll department for Texas Tech and as a receptionist for Dr. Billy Kincaid. She spent her later year's birdwatching in Hanson, with her husband, Phillip DeHart. Darlene loved her family, animals and PBS.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Chaplin.
Darlene is survived by her husband Phil, her stepchildren David and Jenny DeHart and Samantha Dehart, her grandchildren, Justin, Brianna, Allison, and Daniel, her nephew James "Zach" Chaplin and his mother Kay, and her daughter Kelly McGowan.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at the DeHart Cemetery in Olive Hill. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
