Charles's Story

Charles Vernon Kelley, 69, of Hitchins went to be with his Lord Friday April 14, 2017 at the Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Vernon was born April 20, 1947 in Grayson, a son of the late Wayne and Minnie Dehart Kelley. Including his parents Vernon was preceded in death by five sisters, Suzie Stone, Lula Slark, Olena Sexton, Mary Addie White and Vella Lee Royster; two brothers, Bomar Kelley and Jack Kelley; and a step brother, Amos Kelley.
Vernon worked at Riley's Truck Stop, retired laborer with Local 1445, and a mail carrier. Vernon enjoyed kayaking, fishing and was known for his sense of humor.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Pauline Oney Kelley; a son, Robert (Shelly) Kelley of Htchins; two grandchildren, Kenzie (Brian) Hullett and Raven Kelley; two great-grandchildren, Zeke and Zaiden Hullett; a step- son, Christopher (Sue) Oney of Colombia, TN; two step- daughters, Melissa Gail Oney and Jennifer (Habe) Bradford both of Grayson; three step- grandchildren, Christopher Oney, Tiffany Oney and Cevin Johnson; a brother, Jimmy (Emma) Kelley of Hitchins; and a host of extended family and friends who all mourn his passing.
The family has chosen cremation with a private memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Malone Funeral Home in Grayson. Condolences may be sent to the Kelley family at www.malonfuneralhome.com
