Carolyn Ann Johnnie Johnson, age 75, of Soldier, passed away Thursday morning, August 3, 2017, at her residence in Lancaster.
She was born July 26, 1942, in Olive Hill, a daughter of the late Virgil Gee and Andrea McDowell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Gee, and her best friends, Violet Hamm, Betty Jo Davis, and Sharon Baker.
Johnnie was a member of Soldier Wesleyan Church for 10 years and moved on to attend Globe Christian Church for 15 years. She dearly loved her church family. Johnnie worked many places throughout her life: as a cook in Lawton Elementary for 10 years, was a business owner, worked in a sewing factory and as a manager in numerous restaurants. She spent over 20 years being a foster parent. If anyone had anything to say, this is by far her lifes work. Johnnie always wanted children that came to her home to always feel that they had somewhere to go. She has healed and saved so many lives with her love and her lessons to respect and love everyone no matter their past or where they came from.
Johnnie is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Hugh Johnson and Amy Ricketts Newman of Lancaster, Allan Johnson and Glenna Henderson of Lexington, and Greg Rhoden of Lancaster; two daughters, Theresa Johnson and Bobbi Lynn Johnson, both of Soldier; five grandchildren, Ryan Christopher Rayburn of Elliott County, Kia Rayburn of Morehead, Garrard Johnson, Andrea Johnson, and Jacob Johnson, all of Lexington; and her loving brothers and sisters, Phillip Gee (Elexis), Keith Gee (Beetle) and Alberta, Ronnie Rice and Kay, all of Olive Hill. To all of the men and women that she has helped raise, she loved everyone of you as her own.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Globe Christian Church in Olive Hill, with Pastor David Rayburn officiating.
