Reverend Bob Stapleton, age 82, of Olive Hill, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday morning, April 26, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born Oct. 2, 1934, in Inman, Virginia, a son of the late John and Myrtle Brown Stapleton.
Bob was the Pastor of the New Life Victory Church in Olive Hill and retired from the Carter County Board of Education as a school teacher. His passion in life, after accepting his call to the ministry from God, was to support missionaries across the world and serving his community of Olive Hill in prayer and dedication. Bob loved preaching and witnessing for the Lord. His spare time was spent in the Healing Room at his church praying for others. He also enjoyed writing articles for the Eastern Kentucky Voice that appeared weekly in the Pastor's Corner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Hannah Stapleton and Matthew Stapleton; one brother, Ray Stapleton; and one sister, Audrey Gillenwater.
Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce Williams Stapleton; their three children, Judy LaDeur of St. Charles Illinois, Steven Stapleton (Diana) of Dayton, Ohio, and Michael Stapleton of Olive Hill; 13 grandchildren, Tina Brouwer (Aaron), Kelly Ashline (Chris), Bob LaDeur (Angela), Paul Stapleton (Stacy), Nick Stapleton (Crystal), Rachel Baggett (Damian), Courtney Harding (Paul), Gabe Stapleton (Lindsey), Victoria Stapleton, Jonathan Stapleton (Amy), Joy Holbrook and Angie Becker (Kris); and 32 great grandchildren, Ayla, Peter, Leah, Ani, Emi, Carisse, John, Anastasia, David, Elijah, Isabelle, Alexis, Gracelyn, Caleb, Samuel, Levi, Isaac, Jackson, Savannah, Scarlet, Connie, James, Joshua, Jacob, Joey, Braden, Caitlyn, Lola, Bryce, Kamron, Keeli, and Presley. He also leaves many other family members, church family, and friends who will sadly miss him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017, at New Life Victory Church in Olive Hill, with his son, Steve Stapleton officiating. Following the Celebration service the Stapleton family request you join them for a time of food, fellowship, and sharing of memories from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the church.
